Synopsis: Through a string of family events, an emotionally estranged woman comes face to face with her step-father’s abuse. The confrontation threatens to unravel her facade and reveal the dark secrets she keeps in the guise of protecting the family she’s avoided for fifteen years.

Russell Knight shares a great story on the process of writing his winning screening “Horizon Calling” during the lockdown. It’s all about diligence and having his wife a part of the writing process.

“Horizon Calling” is about a dismayed young man who travels through the Australian outback after the death of his brother. He ends up going on an ill-advised sailing trip with his estranged father and finds himself caught up in the violent world of international smuggling. It’s a drama with action/adventure.

November 3rd 2020 - Interview with screenwriter Clara Bijl (FOR BETTER OR WORSE)

Great interview with the Female Festival’s 2020 Feature Screenplay Winner Clara Bijil. Her screenplay FOR BETTER OR WORSE is a terrific comedy with social elements. The perfect podcast to listen to on the US election day. Interview then a best scene reading, audio version, of the screenplay follows.

Summary: An American-born woman who’s deemed to be an “illegal” attempts to avoid deportation at any cost, only to find that her seemingly fool-proof plan has backfired.
